I have learned from you that when we draw eclipses, we need to have the drawing hand and arm floating to get complete flexibility. It takes awhile for me to get used to controlling the movements w/o any wrist support. I am still working on it. My question is for drawing lines or rectangular shapes. Should i put my drawing wrist on the table surface. Or should I just put my elbow for support but the wrist should be away from my table surface?

At about 15:50 when you show the completed sphere, I noticed, on both spheres, that you left white space right at the bottom of the sphere. While that area would be the darkest side of the sphere, I like the effect of this. I, on the other hand, cross-hatched it to death, and made it all dark on the bottom. 🙂 Can you explain that technique, leaving the white space on the bottom? I guess it allows the distinction between the bottom of the sphere and the shadow.

I tried to draw it from the picture and not just follow you, so my lines weren’t exactly the same. And I couldn’t understand where I should apply the hatching and which direction to use at each part. The body of the pepper I could sense a bit more, but not the top.

Thank you for your clear step by step teaching. I do feel like little by little I am picking up things and learning every day. I know I have a long way to go, and I have a lot of practice time ahead. But the contours and hatching are starting to really make sense. I was having trouble when to carry the size of the hatching lines. When to break them up, make then little or long. Any clarification or tips for that would be helpful!

The result of my pepper is ok and I’m quite pleased with it – but every time I look at it I cant help adding a little line here a little line there – now i feel I’ve overdone it and it looked better about “100” lines ago when I should have put my pen down. 🙂 I’m definitely a “Mrs Fussy Pants”.
