If it’s helpful, you could simply measure the width of the head with a ruler and then divide this number by 5. Use the measurements to mark the locations of the eyes. Keep in mind that this is a generalization and it doesn’t have to be super precise.

My portrait’s eyes and ears came out a bit wonky. I think I am having trouble drawing 5 equal ovals below the brow line. Is there a way to place some points at equal distance to mark the lengths of the ovals?

My first attempt at ever drawing a realistic looking human face and it turned out pretty well.

I do have trouble with the shading though. It ends up looking as though I just scribbled all over the drawing. Is this and issue with the pencil I’m using, or because my sketch paper doesn’t have much texture, or is it just technique? How can I learn better shading technique?
