Thank you for your lessons on oil pastel techniques. They have been very helpful. I have been looking for more online lessons using oil pastels but with little success. So I have been wondering where to go to extend my learning. There are so many wonderful soft pastel artists and oil or acrylic artists who offer classes, but no oil pastel artists that I can find. Would I be better off working with instructors who use soft pastel? or oil? or should I focus on the body of work of the instructor and ignore the medium? What would you suggest?

Sennelier oil pastels are very soft, while some brands of oil pastels are quite firmer. I suspect that this is the issue. I would use a colorless blender that matches the brand of oil pastels that you are using, if possible. You use a different method of blending oil pastels. Usually when a course is complete (like this one), I don’t add additional lessons. More oil pastel lessons will be posted, but they will be outside of this course. There are already a few Live Lesson series on oil pastels. In fact, we just finished up a series. New lessons on oil pastels will come in the future in the form of new courses, Live Lesson series, or single lessons.
