In reply to Amber Norris. Hi Amber, The course videos do go fairly quickly. The recorded Live Lessons or classes are slower without much editing. The idea behind the courses is for the student to learn the concepts and then apply those to their own artworks. If you are wanting to create the art from the course video, it may be a good idea to download the step by step ebooks that are included. Then you won't have to keep pausing the video. I hope this helps.

I’m use to using convenience colors so mixing the colors myself was a slow process for me and I couldn’t seem to get my colors to look quite right. I’m using Daniel Smith paints. I wish the instructions were a bit slower. Even with pausing to catch up I was stressed and my painting did not turn out at all. I’m going to start over and try again after watching both videos in their entirety and then Going back and painting along. I want to get the concept down before moving on.

I use a soft, water-soluble graphite to draw prior to painting; then the watercolor absorbs the lines as I progress.

So fun to see the picture come together as each day progresses.
Doing a step or two each day.. 2/3rds thru the first landscape video,
really enjoying misting the colors.

Got some fancy water colors that come in little tubes.
Thinking I already started this painting with
my 4 yr old granddaughter’s pellet style water color set.
Don’t want to change the hues and such
of the watercolor material mid painting!
So having to wait with the new set.
So much excitement going on here,

Nice lesson but the path is made up of invasive Japanese Knotgrass. I have spent a lot of time trying to eliminate it from my land.

I painted the pears, not perfect but looked ok to me. I really enjoyed it not worrying and being uptight, just enjoyed it and the result – best I’ve done so far. Thank you.

In reply to Margaret Voorhaar. Thanks Margaret, Sorry this is a late response. No, pads are not just for beginners. I do compare the tubes and pads briefly in The Watercolor Workshop course. The tubes are going to give you richer color without a lot of water, while the cakes or pans will require a good bit of water to bring them to life. Remember, when the tube paints dry on a palette, they simply become pan watercolors.

Thanks for your work. I have “gone to art school” with your videos. Am following drawing, at first with the free offerings (thank-you, thank-you- thank-you) and have now jumped in as a member, working on your drawing courses. At the same time I had been puttering with watercolor and am following this course. You have kept me very busy.

Q: I began with a travel set of winsor-newton pads as I am often on a sailboat. I am at the point where I will need to replenish these. I am slow to mix and inconsistent, so am considering tubes, though they may be less convenient to me. Do you have a segment which deals with comparisons of pads vs tubes? Are pads just for beginners?
