In reply to Susie Willis. HI Susie, All paintings and drawings must balanced visually. It is less important to have a full range of value in an abstract or non-objective work, but it still must be visually balanced in some manner.

Would abstract and non objective paintings still have the expectation if one took a black and white photo that the lights, mid-tone, and dark would balance?

I’m unable to find the module on “abstract” painting with knife. It’s listed as module 14 but is not there, instead there is an advertisement soliciting viewers to become a member, which I already am. Please tell me how to get to the “abstract” module?
BTW, I am just blown away by your teaching skills, and how engaging you are. I get up very early in the morning to get a head start on what I can learn each day. Thank you!

I would like at least one lesson on how to most effectively paint what I consider to be the most difficult parts of familiar landscape features such as water that is calm or still or water that is whipped up with white caps, small waves, or waves crashing on the beach.
