Inverted grip is very close to holding the bottom chopstick. Thank you for your videos. They have really helped me get back to drawing after a head injury.

Hi Matt, thank you so much for these lessons, they really help to improve!
My question is about practice or exercises in drawing. I, personally, find contour hatching quite challenging. The lines need to be precise and follow the shape of the object, but it even getting sphere shading more or less believable took me couple of days. I try different ways to hold a pencil and I love overhand (drumstick). Now i am struggling with shading a cylinder. I think it will take me some time to get geometrical shapes right!
Do you think I should stick to geometrical shapes and shading them and get them right before I go to more complex objects? Like lemons:)? Or should I try different medias (pastels, tempera etc) just to change the focus after certain amount of time? Thank you in advance.

All I can say is that I am impressed with this course so far and I am glad that I bought it. I only wished that I was presented with this course when I was doing my art lessons at school…. would have been much more interesting, fun and time-efficient.
