Marjorie,

Colored graphite is graphite, while watercolor pencils feature pigment held by the same binder as watercolor (gum arabic). This makes these tow mediums different, even though both can be thinned with water. Hi Gretchen, Sorry I missed this. No problem at all. The only issue is that the water soluble graphite may darken or mute the colored graphite.
