Hi, I try to open the course "How to paint Black eyed susans" in the oil pastel painting course. I only get a message " Sorry, this course does not exist". Even the next course " Impasto sky" give the same message. What shall I do? Have you cancelled those two lessons?

Hi Teri,

I hope you are doing well. I would use the colorline paper. It has a little less tooth, but more than the multimedia paper. I hope this helps.

Hello Matt,

I am starting this course and just realized I do not have any black Mi-Tenites paper. Which would be a better choice; Strathmore 40 series coal black multimedia paper or Canson colorline paper. in canson I have in two weights, One is much thicker than the other.

I hope to start this tomorrow or Tuesday. Thank you for your help.

Greetings to Your wife and children,

Hi Tanzina,

If an area within a drawing or painting appears flat, this is usually because of a lack of contrast in value. Try bumping up the contrast by making some of the values lighter and some darker. This will likely get rid of the flat appearance.

Hello Matt,

You are a great teacher and I admire how you can explain and simplify the process of creating artwork. I am a newbie with oil pastel. I have two questions for you.

1. Should I avoid blending colours while using oil pastel, as opposed to dry pastels? When is it more desirable to blend or not?

2. I noticed that you have headphones on in your video. What are you listening to while creating? I always listen to music while creating. I am curious about the importance of the work environment when I watch people create.
